Pipe burst causes water supply disruption at PPR Taman Mesra

-

SANDAKAN: Residents of PPR Taman Mesra are urging the relevant authority to give more attention to the water supply interruption which has affected their daily lives.

A resident of Taman Mesra said the water interruption in their area had become worse and was now happening frequently.

“If it is a temporary shutdown of water supply for maintenance, prior notice shall be disseminated so that the public can prepare by stocking up water reserves.

“It has been a straight four days now for us to endure this unacceptable situation. Some of us even had to resort to cleaning ourselves at the nearest public toilets.

“We also had to take clean water from the vendor machine located at Bandar Kim Fung, as we are unable to stock up large amounts of water because of our small house,” he said.

Residents of Taman Mesra hoped that in future the shutdown of water supply will not be carried out for days without prior notice.

Meanwhile, Elopura constituency development leader, Chan Tzun Hei, said that the water interruption had occurred due to a pipe burst at one of the residential blocks of PPR Taman Mesra.

“I have contacted the relevant authority regarding the water interruption and was informed that an internal piping problem had occurred at one of the residential blocks.

“As it is under the maintenance of the Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC), they (SMC) will be carrying out maintenance and repair of the pipes in stages,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.
