Lok Kawi students graduate in new school hall
LOK KAWI: Primary Six and pre-school students of SK Kem Lok Kawi graduated in a new school hall yesterday, launched by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin.
Yahya, who is also Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, hopes the hall will allow the school to carry out activities more conveniently and benefit students, as well as the community at large.
“The completion of this hall will surely allow the school to organise activities and programmes more easily without having to factor in weather conditions.
“In addition, I also hope the school will allow this hall to be utilised for community activities to foster a good relationship with the public at large,” he said.
Yahya also expressed hope for the recent 2018 budget allocation of RM1 billion for schools in Sabah to be fully exercised to provide better amenities as well as for repair and maintenance works, especially for dilapidated schools.
Commenting on the upcoming SMK Putatan school building, he said construction will hopefully begin next year at the latest, while mooting the suggestion for an SMK Kem Lok Kawi.
“I know the students at this school are not only from Lok Kawi and I know there are students who have to go to schools out of Lok Kawi or Putatan because of limited places.
“I hope the Ministry of Education will build a high school here in the near future, given the rapid establishment of housing areas,” he said.
