Rural school students take part in ‘Warna Warni Aspirasi Negaraku’

-

KUDAT: The alumni of the Sabah Foundation Technical College (KTYS) together with the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) Youth Ambassador Benreza Hezery Uzair organised ‘Warna Warni Aspirasi Negaraku’ at SK Sebayan near here yesterday.

The rural school has 150 students. The KTYS alumni, represented by Azliah Khairuddin and Zaharah Zainal, helped in organising the program by conducting colouring activities and writing their aspirations on the paper provided.

The students’ aspirations will be sent to Putrajaya to be voiced by Benreza.

Among the aspirations shared by students of SK Sebayan, they are hoping that they can easily go to schools by using the upgraded roads and build a rural university that will give them the opportunity to get the best education without having to migrate to the city.

Benreza, the owner of JuaraGym and Juara Kids Kindergarden in Kota Kinabalu, described his trip to the school as a valuable experience for him as the school was located in the interior of Sabah and it was his first visit to a national school after being appointed TN50’s youth ambassador earlier this year.

Meanwhile, SK Sebayan senior teacher, Florina Gabriel said the school still needed more assistance in terms of building improvements and teaching aid.

SK Sebayan is among the 58 primary schools in the region selected for the TN50 aspiration program.

Students attending the school came from seven nearby villages where most of their parents are fishermen and farmers.

The school completed a hostel facility, donated by a financial insitution, in August and is able toaccommodate up to 60 students who live as far as seven miles awary from school.

Due to the lack of basic amenities, currently this hostel can only house 30 students.
