Wife beater among drug suspects detained

KENINGAU: Three men and a women between 19 and 28 years old were arrested by National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for drug abuse during an operation in a village here on Monday night.

One of the suspects, a 28year-old man always beat his wife and children when he was under the influence of drugs, said Keningau AADK senior officer Azry Golbin @ Azmi here yesterday.

“The man admitted that he often lost control by scolding and hitting his wife and chilren for no reason when he is high on drugs. He was often aggressive towards his family members.

“The suspect is among four, including a woman who was arrested during the operation,” he said.

Azry said that all the suspects detained would be investigat­ed under Section 3 (1) of the Drug Addict Act (Treatment and Recovery) Act 1983.

They also tested positive for syabu abuse, he said, adding that they were arrested following a tip-off.

Azry advised the public and families to be sensitive to the changes in the behaviours of their family members before the situation gets worse and threatens their lives and other communitie­s.
