BTS's first Koreans to boast over 10 mln Twitter followers

SEOUL: BTS has become the first Koreans to boast 10 million followers on Twitter, its Seoul unit said Monday.

“BTS has hit 10 million followers on Twitter, a first for a Korean account,” Twitter Korea said. The social media service posted a short video titled “The incredible rise of K-pop superstars BTS.”

BTS, the popular boy group also known as Bangtan Boys, surpassed the 10 million milestone at 11:15 a.m., four years and 11 months after uploading the first post on Dec. 17, 2012.

BTS members uploaded selfies to express thanks as fans celebrated the occasion.

Also on Monday, the music video for the group’s track “Danger” surpassed 100 million YouTube views as of 4:46 p.m. “Danger” is the title track off the group’s first full-length album titled “Dark & Wild” out in August 2014.

It became the ninth BTS music video to exceed the 100 million mark. Two of the nine videos -- “Dope” and “Fire” -- have garnered more than 200 million views.

Meanwhile, music fans who have eagerly waited for the collaboration among BTS, Steve Aoki and Desiigner will have to wait a little longer, as the boy band announced Monday that it will push back the release date for the remix version of “Mic Drop” to Nov. 24.

BTS’s release of the track -originally included in its latest EP “Love Yourself Seung Her” -- was initially scheduled for Friday.

“After discussing with our partners in the US, we thought it would be better for the song to be revealed after BTS’ promotions in the US that will include participating in the American Music Awards,” Big Hit Entertainment said.

In a message to fans, BTS said the new version of the song is a “surprise gift for its fan club Army.”

BTS’ upcoming visit to the US will include singing its hit single “DNA” at the 45th American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, an appearance on popular late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and a live performance on NBC’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
