Ten-fold returns for dealing in auctioned vehicles

-

IPOH: With a capital of RM200, a used-vehicles and spare parts trader can obtain 10-fold returns from purchasing an auctioned vehicle from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

According to Abdul Rahim Yatim, every vehicle he obtained in the auction already had ready buyers.

"Normally, before the auction day, bidders had already seen the vehicle. Regardless of whether it is in good condition or not, the vehicle is still valuable.

"Like today, I bought a RU120 Suzuki motorcycle at RM200, and I can re-sell it for more than RM2,000 in Cambodia because this model is very popular there," he said when met by reporters after a public auction at JPJ here yesterday.

Abdul Rahim, 55, added that throughout the 17 years of owning Dew Auto Enterprise which operates in Taiping, he had travelled all over Peninsular Malaysia to purchase auctioned vehicles.

Abdul Rahim, who also successfully bid RM1,500 for a Yamaha RXZ135 motorcycle said it could be re-sold for around RM8,000.

"The motorcycle is in good condition, there is no need for repairs," he noted.

Meanwhile, M. Simon, 25, also tried to purchase a vehicle in the auction but he failed to get any of the 22 vehicles on offer.

"This is my first time at an auction event, I thought I could buy one or two motorcycles but I did not succeed. Maybe, I'll try again next time," he said.

Meanwhile, Perak RTD director Mohd Zawawi Zakaria said yesterday's auction raised RM12,080, and involved almost 30 bidders.

In addition to 18 motorcycles, the auction featured a lorry, two cars and a jeep, he said. - Bernama
