PBS Women caution against threats from opposition

-

KOTA KINABALU: As GE14 is just around the corner, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Wanita wing urges its members to be mindful of the threats posed by the opposition, its chief Datuk Anita Lasiah Baranting said.

While one might think that the increasing number of opposition parties and multi-cornered fights in the state might give Barisan Nasional the extra edge, one should be alert of any attacks by the opposition, she said.

“While that assumption might be true, we must not be complacent and simply let the opposition take advantage of us.

“Although the issues raised during the last election might be big, the issues for GE14 are even bigger. That is why we need to be careful with our respective Wanita branches so that no one would be swayed by the opposition,” Anita said at the opening ceremony of the PBS Youth and PBS Wanita joint convention at KDCA, yesterday.

In order to fulfil one of PBS Wanita’s main goals, which is to win back the seats that it had lost in the previous election, leaders and members must learn to sacrifice for the party.

She also expressed PBS Wanita’s gratitude towards Barisan Nasional for implementing the Jalinan Rakyat Plus (JR Plus) formula, which aims to promote unity, cooperation and consensus between the component leaders to give a chance to the Youth and Wanita wings to contribute to the party.

“JR Plus was formed to unite the Barisan Nasional component parties and from what I see, there will be no more misunderstanding or lack of cooperation between the parties heading into GE14,” she said.

The convention was attended by 380 PBS Wanita leaders from around the state.
