Qatari-based foundation to provide education for Syrian, Palestinian refugees
DOHA: Qatari-based Education Above All foundation signed a number of new partnership agreements with US organisation Spark and Turkey’s Council of Higher Education to support more than 3,000 Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in Turkey, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
It will also provide educational scholarships to 30 Palestinian beginner teachers in Gaza Strip to pursue graduate degrees in the United Kingdom in partnership with the British Council.
The new partnerships, signed Thursday on the sidelines of the World Innovation Summit for Education (Wise 2017), provide full university scholarships, including tuition fee instalments, accommodation, health insurance and monthly stipends.
The new partnerships will help in achieving the foundation’ s objective of providing education to 10 million deprived children.
Today’ s agreements come as part of the foundation’s commitment to work on tackling the global education crisis as the foundation has existing pledges to provide comprehensive education to 7.3 million children across the world.
Education Above All, is a global initiative founded in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, which aims to build a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through quality education and other welfare programmes and initiatives. — Bernama
