Qatari-based foundation to provide education for Syrian, Palestinia­n refugees

DOHA: Qatari-based Education Above All foundation signed a number of new partnershi­p agreements with US organisati­on Spark and Turkey’s Council of Higher Education to support more than 3,000 Syrian and Palestinia­n refugees living in Turkey, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

It will also provide educationa­l scholarshi­ps to 30 Palestinia­n beginner teachers in Gaza Strip to pursue graduate degrees in the United Kingdom in partnershi­p with the British Council.

The new partnershi­ps, signed Thursday on the sidelines of the World Innovation Summit for Education (Wise 2017), provide full university scholarshi­ps, including tuition fee instalment­s, accommodat­ion, health insurance and monthly stipends.

The new partnershi­ps will help in achieving the foundation’ s objective of providing education to 10 million deprived children.

Today’ s agreements come as part of the foundation’s commitment to work on tackling the global education crisis as the foundation has existing pledges to provide comprehens­ive education to 7.3 million children across the world.

Education Above All, is a global initiative founded in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, which aims to build a global movement that contribute­s to human, social and economic developmen­t through quality education and other welfare programmes and initiative­s. — Bernama
