Opposition no match for BN during assembly sitting – CM
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg congratulated the state Barisan Nasional (BN) for its fine performance during the recently concluded 18th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.
According to him, the opposition was no match for BN as they having nothing to talk about in during the sitting.
Speaking during a dinner organised by the Sarawak Barisan Nasional Backbencher's Club (BNBBC) at a local hotel here on Friday, he praised the BN representatives for their calibre when debating issues.
"I am also proud to note that our BN representatives are very intellectual because we have values as we have proven to be better than the opposition. I therefore thank all of you for your fine effort," he said.
During the sitting, he further observed, the opposition did not really understand the state's government policy on digital economy and Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) based on the way they debated those issues.
Abang Johari added that the opposition were totally surprised at his announcement of special incentives equivalent to one month's basic salary or a minimum of RM2,000 for all state civil servants
"They (the opposition) were surprised by that announcment. This special incentive is just one of the ways that the government want to say thank you to all civil servants who have worked hard," he said.
During the dinner he also highlighted government initiatives such as Sarawak Pay which is on track to help the people in the not so distant future.
The chief minister stressed the government have promised and will deliver all the initiatives which they have announced including Big Data, a centralised database system, which the government plans to roll out in April 2018.
