Early childhood learning at Krista

-

SINCE Krista opened its doors to young children in their early childhood years some 20 years ago, thousands of them have benefited from the wonderful programmes and meaningful activities carried out at Krista centres throughout the nation.

Some of these children are already in their early twenties and have completed their tertiary education even as Krista celebrated its 20th Anniversary just last year.

The Krista CAPABLE Programme opens the mind of the child to the workings and the wonders of the world they live in and the child also gets to explore and experience other essential aspects of their development.

The programme is geared towards providing a springboard for the child to become a wellbalanced and a ‘total’ person in his or her later years.

Krista books and teaching materials have been prepared with this concept in mind and are tailored according to the various learning and experience stages, optimising synergistic intelligences and wholesome development approaches. Krista Kuching kindergarten operators who have been running their centres for years now have found the Krista CAPABLE Programme holistic and all-encompassing.

Vicky Chua, the operator of Krista Taman Centurion I, II and III centres, shares her thoughts on the Krista CAPABLE Programme.

“The Krista CAPABLE Programme does not only emphasise the academic aspect but also all-round development for the children where they learn through numerous fun and play activities. It’s such a wonderful and amazing programme as can be seen from the long-lasting positive and desirable impact it has given to my own twin daughters.”

Tracy Toh, the operator of Krista Bampfylde and Krista Kong Ping centres shares the same views.

“The Krista syllabus is tailormade according to the children’s age groups and is in line with Malaysia’s education system and culture. It does not just emphasise on the academic part but also recognises the importance of the other aspects in life.”

Krista understands the uniqueness and the different needs of each and every child and provides him or her with the right conducive environment and experiences so that he or she may be moulded and nurtured to mature into balanced, resourceful, successful and wonderful individuals.

Krista’s CAPABLE Programme is an all-encompassing programme that focuses on individuality, the effective acquisition of knowledge, character building and the achieving of competency.

Ling How Lin whose children are enrolled at Krista Stampin, Kuchingoperated by Michelle Chan says, “I am so glad to see my children come home happy and tell us how much fun they had at Krista Stampin. The programmes are very lively and my children had learned so much.”

The mother of Deanillia Nassa who has enrolled her daughter at Krista Kota Samarahan operated by Jessica Tiong has this to say, “I noticed that she learneda lot of things which created a strong enthusiasm in her for more learning. I didn’t expect her to do well academically in the first year but I was pleasantly surprised that she managed to read in English and Bahasa Malaysia fluently.”

While the Krista CAPABLE Programme is supported by Krista’s day-to-day teachers’ guide, Krista workbooks, trained principals and teachers, fun and enjoyable extra-curricular activities and the use of themes and Montessori methods, it provides for active parental involvement as well.

There are opportunities for parents to interact with their child that will promote continuity for a child’s learning to be enhanced.

Krista values a close partnership with parents as the desirable development of the child in its totality is only possible with the support, understanding, commitment as well as the intimate involvement of parents.

The recent Krista Charity Walkathon 2017 in aid of PERKATA Sarawak – Persatuan Bagi Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal (Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children) held in Kuching saw the participation of some 1,600 Krista children and parents from Krista Kuching centres.
