Ramlee to sue Junz, Aziz

-

KOTA KINABALU: Bugaya assemblyman Datuk Ramlee Marahaban will be filing civil and criminal suits against Likas assemblyman Junz Wong and Wira Warisan chief Datuk Azis Jamman.

His counsel Marcel Jude Joseph told reporters that the suits would be filed in 24 hours to 48 hours, given the urgency of the matter.

He said the action of both Junz and Azis were to inflict maximum damage in the social media on his client, stating that there were malicious and libellous reports on Facebook and WhatsApp against Ramlee.

“We are going to take action against them,” he said.

The civil suit against Junz and Azis is for defamation.

“We have freedom of speech but not to defame,” Marcel told reporters.

Additionally, a criminal prosecution will also be filed, he said, adding that this was due to the seditious tendency of the content of the video that was taken which was aimed at causing embarrassment and to stop Ramlee from carrying out his daily duty as the Assistant Minister of Finance, said Marcel.

Ramlee will also file a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission against the duo for alleged harassment, invasion of privacy and use of a drone to make video without permission.

The civil case will be heard within a month.
