PM arrives to attend WIEF, Malaysia-Indonesia talks

KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived at the Kuching Internatio­nal Airport (KIA) yesterday to attend several events in the state capital city from tomorrow and Wednesday.

He arrived here by a special aircraft at 7.10 pm.

Najib, was met upon his arrival by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address and open the 13th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

In the evening, Najib is scheduled to attend the WIEF Gala Night at the Sarawak State Legislativ­e Assembly building in Petra Jaya here.

The 13th WIEF will be held at the BCCK from today until Thursday and among the presenters who will share their experience­s is Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

On Wednesday, Najib and President Joko Widodo of Indonesia are scheduled to attend the 12th Malaysia-Indonesia Annual Leaders’ Consultati­on.

For the record, the 11th Annual Leaders’ Consultati­on was held at the Presidenti­al Palace in Jakarta.

The last time Kuching city hosted the Malaysia-Indonesia Annual Leaders’ Consultati­on was in 2003. - Bernama
