Ramlee reveals jet owner
KOTA KINABALU: Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban yesterday stressed that the Gulfstream G200 jet which Parti Warisan Sabah had queried, was registered under Innosky Limited, a subsidiary company fully owned by Sabah Air Aviation Sdn Bhd.
“The jet is registered under Innosky Limited. Innosky is 100 percent owned by Sabah Air,” he explained, adding that Sabah Air acquired Innosky in December 2015.
“It is a Labuan-based company paying Malaysian tax. The jet is therefore owned by a subsidiary of Sabah Air, which is involved in corporate jet charter,” Ramlee said when responding to Warisan's Likas assemblyman Junz Wong's inquiry about Sabah Air's private jet rentals during the debate on the State Budget 2018 at the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday.
He said the major shareholder of Sabah Air is the Ministry of Finance while the balance of the shares is owned by Sabah Energy Corporation.
Four years ago, Ramlee said Sabah Energy Corporation sold its shares to a foreign investor at a very good price that was much higher than the book value of the company.
“The investor lost 85 percent of their investment after two years. That account was audited by Ernst & Young. It shows that Sabah Energy Corporation made the right decision at the moment,” he said.
He said all of Sabah Air planes and helicopters are available for charter.
“In respect of jet charter and medevac services, the positioning, the range and the type of aircrafts as well as the requirements of the passengers or patients are considerations to be taken into account.
He said Wong claimed that he went to Sabah Air and wanted to rent a private jet.
“This is a lie. He never went to
