Opposition members immature, says Sekong rep

-

SEKONG assemblyman Datuk Samsuddin Yahya yesterday chidded members of the opposition for their immaturity.

Samsuddin explained to Bingkor assemblyman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan that one of the examples of opposition immaturity was asking questions that were already answered earlier.

He also dubbed members of the oppostion as those who insulted the budget.

When Kapayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi inquired as to what he meant, Samsuddin replied that it was because the opposition would never support any of the government budget.

He then spoke of the flood incident in Penang and the pleas by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to help them with the flood.

When Sri Tanjung assemblyman Chan Foong Hin asked what Penang has got to do with Sabah, Samsuddin chidded him and said: “This is the behavior of the opposition. We raise an issue to give an explanation so they should hear it out first.”

He then continued with his explanation and said that Zahid instructed the military and police to assist in the flood incident and even mentioned 13 long-term projects costing RM1 million to help Penang.

“This is the BN leader, even though they heap insults, we still continue to render our assistance irrespective of differences in political ideologies,” he said.

Klias assemblyman Datuk Lajim Haji Ukin then stood up and reminded Samsuddin that although Penang was under DAP, there were also BN supporters in the State.

Samsuddin reiterated that BN helps all the people of Sabah, including those under the opposition.

“But it is sad that when the assistance is rendered, it is belittled as if no assistance has been given at all by the central government. It is as if the BN government has let loose a dog that has been trapped (only to be bitten),” he said.

He added that what had happened in Penang was probably karma and a sign that the DAP would fall.

Edwin immediately stood up to comment that if the flooding in Penang was a sign that DAP would fall, could the rampant flooding in Sabah signify a sign that the present government was also going to fall.

“Can this same signal be used in the context of Sabah?” he asked.

However, Samsuddin avoided an answer and replied that Penang was an island and this was a disaster.
