Borneo Bird Run to be held Dec 3

SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Borneo Bird Club is proud to bring the second edition of the Borneo Bird Run to the community once more.

To be held again at the iconic Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) on Dec 3, an 8km adventure route awaits those who seek greater challenge, while a 2km fancy dress fun run will also be backed by popular demand where attractive prizes await for the most eyecatching costume on that day.

Supported by the Sabah Forestry Department and Sabah Tourism Board, it is hoped that this event will not only aim to provide a platform to promote and encourage healthy lifestyle for the local community, but more importantly, to continue to raise awareness of the need to protect our environment and wildlife species.

And there is no better way to do this than to let the masses to experience the joy and challenge of running through our rainforest.

Chairman of the Sandakan Borneo Bird Club, Gary Albert, believes that the run will not only allow the public to enjoy the beauty of our rainforest, but will also let the family have some fun together.

He would also like to express sincere appreciation to all partners of this year’s run, which include the official apparel partner (Ultron Malaysia), design and printing partner (Ngee Ming Signcrafts), as well as events partners (F&N, Urban Café, Sandakan Styles Hotel, Four Points By Sheraton Sandakan, Kenny Rogers Roasters and Indocafe).

Attractive cash and other prizes await the winners of each category. The organiser has also added a lucky draw segment this year in which all participants will stand a chance to win fabulous prizes contributed by the event partners.

The organising committee has expressed their sincere thanks to the Datuk Sam Mannan and Sabah Forestry Department for their support to the event all these years. The committee has also invited Sam to be the special guest to flag off the Borneo Bird Run on Dec 3, which Sam has kindly accepted the invitation.
