‘More than half of PR1MA houses sold’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 12,640 units of Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) houses with gross development value of RM3.16 billion had been taken up as at Nov 15, 2017.

“This represents more than 50 per cent of the 25,132 units of PR1MA houses which are open for sale at the moment,” Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia said in a statement yesterday to clarify a media report yesterday on the number of houses that had been sold.

PR1MA said claims that the number of units that are currently under various stages of construction and sold was misleading to readers.

“Not all 141,661 units that are currently under various stages of construction are open for sale and it is misleading to conclude that less than 10 per cent of PR1MA units have been sold to date,” said PR1MA.

“Before we can sell homes, we must first obtain approval from the authorities and not all of the houses under construction can be sold,” said PR1MA.

In fact, it said the response for PR1MA projects had been well received in key locations, for example, PR1MA @ Jalan Jubilee in Bukit Bintang was oversubscribed by 27 times, with a total of 224 units or 42 per cent of the 542 units up for sale taken up in only three days during the last weekend.

This affordable pricing had allowed Malaysians to own a home in a prime location, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city centre, it added.

“We wish to highlight that PR1MA is committed to delivering houses with lifestyle and community concept for house buyers from the middle-income group (M40),” it said, adding that the availability of these projects would address the increasing demand for fairly-priced quality houses in Malaysia.

“PR1MA targets to sell 16,250 units by year-end through its nationwide roadshow – PR1MA Open Day,” it said. — Bernama
