BN leaders in interior welcome Ghani’s appointment as Senator
KENINGAU: Upper Interior Umno leaders and two Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties PBS and PBRS, welcomed the appointment of Pensiangan Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin as Senator by Sabah State Assembly, on Thursday.
Pensiangan Umno deputy chief Abi Wednes Gagamboi expressed his gratitude for the appointment.
Tenom Umno Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar said youths in the interior welcomed the appointment so that the voice of the people and the interior could be brought to the Senate.
“Thanks to the Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman,” he said.
Keningau Umno chief Nik Nazri Nik Zawawi said Ghani’s appointment as a Senator showed that Umno’s struggle in the interior was appreciated.
“We, Keningau Umno Youth, welcome this appointment,” he said.
Keningau Umno secretary Hadimin Jamburi said the appointment of Ghani was timely as Pensiangan was relatively large.
He said Pensiangan Umno should be given space and opportunity to indirectly help member of parliament and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.
According to him, Pensiangan is expected to face rapid growth in the future as it is likely that the Interior will be an education hub with the setting up of an UiTM campus and an UMS branch.
Keningau Umno division committee member Haji Yazid Haji Hasnan Tawik said the appointment of Ghani, who has extensive experience, could help address the problems of the people of Sabah, especially in the interior.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth vicechief Augustine Nain fully supports the appointment of Ghani.
He said this reflected the Chief Minister’s concern of the problems of the people as well as development in the interior.
“We are very hopeful that the appointment of Ghani will contribute to the development of the interior and the state, and the problems faced by the people can be presented to the top leaders of BN and the federal government,” he said.
Sook Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Youth chief Ramian Ayub said the appointment would certainly help BN leaders further boost development in the state, especially in the interior.
