Hermis Amir bags Overall Gross golf title

KOTA KINABALU: Hermis Amir edged 284 contenders to lift the Overall Gross title at the Forest City Sponsored Golf Tournament that ended at the Kinabalu Golf Club (KGC) in Tanjung Aru near here on Sunday.

Heavy rain on the final day however saw scores from the opening nine holes being counted for the three-day tournament which attracted golfers from around the state.

A one-over par 36 score allowed Hermis to top the standings where he was two shots better than his nearest rivals which after count back (OCB) put Chua Poh Guan in second place followed by Neil Redmond Bainon.

In the Overall Nett section, Mohd Ridhwan Wong played eightunder 27 to emerge winner with Haji Gulam Hassan in second place just a further shot behind while Khairul Afizal Sultan Ali played 31 nett to finish third after OCB.

Valerie Vanessa Langkab carded seven-under 28 nett to take the Ladies title with Habibah Abdullah and Karen Hui in second and third place with their scores of 31 nett and 32 nett respective­ly.

In the Senior category, Freddy Lee played four-under 31 nett to finish ahead of Charles Yong (32 nett) and Kassim Yunus (33 nett OCB).

The Super Senior title went to Allan Chong Sow Yee with 35 nett while Haji Kula Jamudin was in second placing with 37 nett.

President of KGC Datuk Abd. Razak Walli and KGC captain Chua Poh Guan presented the prizes to the winners witnessed by Forest City Country Garden Pacificvie­w official Shawn Lau and Fish Tang.
