600 join Keningau family run
KENINGAU: More than 600 participants joined the Healthy Lifestyle Run in conjunction with The Crocker Range Festival (TCRF) and state-level Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) International Anti-Corruption Day here yesterday.
Program director of TCRF and Visit Keningau Year 2018 (VKY2018), Rafie Robert, said the run was one of the events in conjunction with TCRF Festival and VKY2018 promotion campaigns.
He said the 4.5-kilometre family run was divided into open, junior and veteran men and women categories.
“In addition to fostering solidarity, especially among the participants of the multi-racial youth in the district, the program is also a campaign to foster healthy lifestyle practices through recreational activities, including exercise and running.
“The encouraging participation shows that the people here want a healthy life,” he said.
Rafie also urged the local community to support the VKY2018 campaign and to jointly promote tourism products.
According to him, Keningau has many exciting tourism destinations for tourists. Among them are Laing Cave Park, Bandukan Park, Sungai Pegalan Recreation Park at ApinApin, Mount Trusmadi, Handicraft Center, Oath Stone, Heritage Museum, Crocker Range, Lugas Hill and a dairy farm.
State MACC director Dato Sazali Salbi, District Officer Haji Yusop Haji Osman and district police chief DSP Ahmad Jawila attended the run.
The flag-off was conducted by senior director of Domestic and Program Management of the Ministry of Tourism, Dato Ammar Ghapar.
VKY 2018 and TCRF were launched here by Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan on Friday night.
