RM1 million to repair 100 houses in Keningau – Kurup
KENINGAU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said a total of RM1 million allocation would be channelled to repair 100 houses in the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency before the end of this year.
Of the total, 40 houses in Sook and 60 in Nabawan, had been identified and would benefit from it, he said at a gotong royong to repair six houses at Kampung Panagatan Laut in the Sook, yesterday.
Kurup, who is also Pensiangan member of parliament, said the program was organized by the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.
He also thanked the government and Barisan Nasional (BN) who channelled the allocation to implement house improvements in his area.
“This is a program that proves what the Prime Minister had told us; we are not just talking but it is accompanied by action so that the people feel the policies created by the government and BN are good.
“Apart from that, this program also benefits qualified residents whose house gets a budget of about RM10,000,” he said.
Kurup is also grateful to the Malaysian Armed Forces who had helped to carry out repair works of the houses until completion.
He said repairs of the houses were coordinated by the Area Neighbourhood (KRT) in the area through a gotong royong.
Answering another question, Kurup, who is also Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president, said DAP had made small-scale projects and exaggerated them as though the problems of the people had been settled by them.
“One example is a gotong royong to supply gravity pipe water to Kampung Magatang in Sook.
“DAP said it was enough to supply water to 1,000 people in the village, but that’s not true. They take water from a spring and from a small pond. There is not enough water and is not suitable for use by the villagers.
“But they (DAP ) said there is enough water for 1,000 people, and it’s a lie,” he said.
Participating in Kurup’s delegation during the visit were State National Unity and Integration Department director Delin Liet Blaun, PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup, ministry and government officials, and community leaders.
On the same day Kurup and his entourage also visited and saw a gotong royong to repair three houses at Kampung Bahagia C in Nabawan.
