Malaysia hosts AseanChina Film Festival 2017
PUTRAJAYA: The AseanChina Film Festival (ACFF) 2017 was declared open at a ceremony in the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) last night.
This is the first time the festival from Dec 1 to 4 is being held in an Asean country.
The programmes scheduled in conjunction with the festival include a forum on Asean-China Film Exchange and Cooperation, film screening in selected cinemas, cultural visits and awards ceremony.
Asean China Centre secretary-general, Yang Xiuping in her speech said China and Asean with two billion population had the strength to spur the film market in future.
“Besides promoting the film market, ACFF can also promote mutual learning and mutual understanding between the Asean community and China,” she said.
The ACFF is a new peopleto-people cultural exchange programme between Asean and China, with film as a media.
It aims to promote AseanChina friendly cooperation relations and establish a long term cooperation platform in the film industry with government guidance, social participation and corporate sponsorship.
A total of 23 films from 10 Asean countries and seven films from China will be screeened in ACFF.
Organised by the Asean Finance Agency and Guangxi Art University of China, the festival is supported by the Asean Secretariat, Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Communications and Multimedia Ministry and Malaysia-China Friendship Association. - Bernama
