Retirement not end of road — Mayor

-

KOTA KINABALU: Retirement is not the end of the road but instead an opportunity to pursue other endeavours.

Kota Kinabalu City Hall Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai said retirement is a transition into a new chapter in life which could harness a positive outcome.

He further said experience obtained in years of public service should not go to waste but instead channelled through proper avenues.

“I believe the experience and memories of being in public service all these years cannot be sold or bought and are incomparable.

“I urge you to share those experiences through proper channels so that the good name of City Hall is assured,” Yeo said when addressing 45 retirees and those in attendance at City Hall’s ‘Malam Jasamu Dikenang’ endof-year appreciation dinner and ceremony honouring this year’s retirees.

The mayor also took the opportunity to thank public service officers not only from City Hall but federal and state government agencies, statutory bodies, community development leaders and concession companies that were involved in recent rescue attempts for victims of natural disasters.

Also present at Friday night’s event were Fairground Development Sdn Bhd director Datuk Seri Panglima Edward Khoo Keok Hai, Public Works Department Sabah director Datuk Amrullah @ Amrullah Kamal and City Hall director general Datuk Joannes Solidau.
