Wanita Umno sets four main thrusts to win GE14

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Wanita Umno’s “Must Win War” spirit radiated on the last day of the party’s general assembly today with the outlining of four main thrusts for Umno to win the upcoming 14th general election (GE14), namely, the “sword of bravery” (pedang keberanian), “armour of loyalty” (perisai kesetiaan), “vessel of warriors” (bahtera satria) and “strategies of war” (strategi perang).

Through “sword of bravery”, the movement’s leader, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, said Wanita Umno members should not be afraid of the opposition’s strength and should believe in their own “sword”.

“This is because in a war of politics, when our party is attacked, bravery is the ‘sword’ (weapon), but let there be no one among us to use the sword to stab our own party.

“When our leaders are attacked, we defend them, not attacking them too. When our race is attacked, we should be in the front line, to defend it, when our religion is attacked, we should counter it,” she said in her winding-up speech at the assembly.

On the ‘armour of loyalty’, she said it was loyalty to party leaders, supporters and members in bad and good times.

She was cheered by the ocean of delegates and party members, who were mostly dressed in blue, in Dewan Merdeka of the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC) when she told the assembly of the undivided loyalty of Wanita Umno for party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“Listen Mr President, the women’s loyalty has no borders, the women’s trust cannot be denied, the women’s support is unstoppable, continue to lead us, fly the flag of aspiration, drive the transformation that has been promised,” she said.

“The third thrust, “vessel of warriors”, it means that in one ship there should be only one captain, that is Najib, who is calm and wise in helming this sacred party of the Malays.

“Remember, until we win, the ship will not berth,” she said.

On the fourth thrust, Shahrizat said the most effective strategy was sincerity to serve the people.

There is nothing more important that that,” she added.

Shahrizat said this upcoming general election would be a history as it would be the first time Umno would be strengthened by half a million members under the Jalinan Rakyat Programme (JR), and supported by JR PLus, a programme involving Puteri Umno and Youth members, as well as BN component parties.

She said the JR and the JR Plus regiments not only move from house to house and meet voters, but they were also the medium between the people and elected representatives, as well as other authorities, to explain on the government and party’s aspirations.

Wanita Umno, she said, supported efforts by the government in providing the various initiatives to help the people, but expressed the need for the private sector to chip in. - Bernama
