Rhinos beat Indonesia side 4-1 in friendly

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah came from behind to beat Indonesian side PPLM Bina Sentra 4-1 at the Likas Stadium on Sunday.

The match was one of three friendly games that the Rhinos will play against Bina Sentra in their preparation for the Malaysian League 2018 campaign.

It was also a platform for hopeful local and foreign imports to impress head coach Jelius Ating, who is on the lookout for a striker to boost the team for the next season.

Jelius started with players from the 2017 squad with the exception of Geison Moura, the Brazilian striker who was one of three foreign players observed on the night.

The former joint top scorer in the Singapore League showed some nice touches but could not get on the score sheet before he was withdrawn.

PPLM led in the first half through Ebi Pebriansyah.

In the second half, the Rhinos bounced back to hit four goals past their opponents.

Leopold Alfonso scored the equaliser before the Ivory Cost duo Ballo Famoussa and Arthur Kouassi took over.

Famoussa, previously with Laos Premier League champions Lao Toyata FC, put Sabah 2-1 before scoring his second goal of the night to increase the lead to 3-1.

Kouassi, like his countryman played as striker, then made it 4-1 shortly after coming on as a second half substitute.

Apart from the trio of foreign hopefuls, the Rhinos also had Shazlee Ramli and Ilyas Sulaiman among the local imports well as footballers called up from the state junior squad or FAM Cup sides on trials.

Meanwhile, the state President Cup squad (under-21) will take to the field to take on Bina Sentra at the Likas Stadium tonight.

The state senior team will return to face the same opponents, who are made up of top players selected from various universities in Indonesia, at the same venue on December 13. GLASGOW: Celtic let a two-goal lead slip as Hibernian came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw in a thrilling encounter at Easter Road on Sunday.

Scott Sinclair’s double in four second half minutes appeared to have the Scottish champions cruising to another league victory.

However, former Celtic player Efe Ambrose’s deflected shot gave Hibs hope in the 76th minute before Oli Shaw sent the home fans wild with an equaliser three minutes later.

Celtic’s 68-match unbeaten run almost came to an end in stoppage-time as Shaw’s shot was cleared off the line by Mikel Lustig to ensure a result that replicates the scoreline the last time the teams met in the league at Celtic Park in September.

The result means Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership has been cut to five points following rival Rangers’ 2-1 win against Ross County on Saturday.

“I thought we were outstanding in the game for the first 75 minutes and controlled the game,” Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said.

“We were 2-0 up and it should have been four or five with the chances we had and then we presented them with two goals.

“We’ll certainly reflect on it as two points dropped.”- AFP
