Strongestman Open Challenge on Dec 23-24
KOTA KINABALU: The Strongestman Open Challenge will take place at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex parking lot near here from December 23 to 24.
The challenge will be opened to athletes with weight category of 95kg and below, tournament coordinator Roger Frederick revealed yesterday.
He added that the challenge was among the events under the GI Gama Generation-organised New Year Festival 2017 running from December 22 to 31.
“We have had the Strongestman Open, Strongestman Novice and Strongestwoman Challenge...and now we will be having a Strongestman Open Challenge for weight category below 95kg.
“We are calling all interested athletes to take part in the challenge...we are looking at around 18 contestants,” he texted yesterday.
There will be eight disciplines to take place in the two-day challenge, four disciplines for each competition day.
The disciplines are Truck Pull, Farmer’s Walk, Tiyre Flip, Yoke Walk, Hercules Bearhug, Log Press, Car Deadlift and Atlas Stone.
“Registration will start at 10am (on December 23) to be followed by the weigh-in,” added Roger.
The entry fee is RM200, which is inclusive of two event t-shirts.
The champion will bring home RM2,000, followed by RM1,500 and RM1,000 for second and third place, respectively.
The fifth to eight places will win RM700, RM500, RM400, RM300 and RM200, respectively.
Roger said, furthermore, the festival main organiser GI Gama Generation will also be holding many more events on the side including karaoke contest, Mobile Legend, Zumba and drawing for children as well as vendor bazaar.
The festival will start from 10am to 10pm.
