Labuan Toastmasters celebrates its 2017 achievements
LABUAN: Labuan Toastmasters Club (LTC) recently held an endyear celebration of all its great achievements and activities throughout 2017.
Organising chairperson, who is also the vice president membership Toastmasters, Zyee F. Dullie, said during her welcoming speech that one of the main traits of any club or successful nongovernmental organisation (NGO) was great camaraderie and strong friendship among everyone in the club.
“Therefore, it is important to celebrate each success of the club and its members to instil a higher sense of unity, and ensure members always feel valued by the club,” she said.
About 30 people who attended were entertained with an ice breaker game, birthday celebrations and gift exchange and lucky draw sessions at the Christmas-themed gathering.
“The achievements and accomplishments of the club are due to the active participation of our members. Equally important is the good support that we receive from our family members. We are thankful that LTC continues to remain relevant in society as we also receive continuous support and recognition from the local Labuan community who regard the club as a sound platform where individuals can become better communicators and leaders,” club president Sandra C. Michael-CC, ALB, said during her end-year appreciation speech.
One of the notable achievements of LTC is being awarded the President’s Distinguished Club award for five consecutive years now. It is the highest level of club recognition available to be given in Toastmasters.
She added: “With this recognition, LTC has received numerous invitations from organisations, government offices and schools to deliver talks and to become debate and public speaking competition judges for various occasions, making LTC among the most active and highly reputable leadership NGOs on the island.”
