Ronald Miji claim Overall Nett in KLF golf tourney

KOTA KINABALU: Ronald Miji clinched the Overall Nett title at the recent KLF Charity Golf tournament at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) in Bukit Padang near here.

Ronald, however, needed the countback decision (OCB) before being crowned the winner after second placed Danny Lim also carded two-under 70 nett in the 17th edition of the KadazanDus­un Language Foundation (KLF)organised tournament.

Third place went to Zaini Ajamin, also via OCB against six other golfers who carded 71 nett.

In the Gross category, Chua Poh Guan was the winner with 75 and edged Sheo Wei Ming via OCB. Christophe­r Daniel James was third with 76.

A tight contest was on show in the Ladies’ category which Josephine Chu went on to win via OCB against Anne Cyriany. Both played 74 nett. Third was Habibah Abdullah with 76.

The Senior category winner was Datuk Joachim Gunsalam with 71 nett followed by Mairin Samad, who edged Kuck Cheang Huei for second place via OCB after both played 72 nett.

The top three in the Super Senior category were Hong Lay Kiong with 72 nett, Julius Boisi (75 nett) and Julius Gala (76 nett).

The KLF Chariy Golf is a yearly event which aims to raise funds to finance and support the works of the Foundation in maintenanc­e and preservati­on of mother tongue and indigenous languages.

Sabah Cultural Board chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Wences Angang and organising chairman Datuk Philip B. Lasimbang presented the prizes to the winners, which was witnessed by KLF chief executive officer Rita Lasimbang.
