MAHB records 6.2 pct passenger traffic growth in Nov 2017
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) network of airports, including the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SGIA), recorded a 6.2 per cent passenger traffic year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in November 2017, with 10.4 million passengers, compared with the same month in 2016.
In a statement yesterday, MAHB said its international passenger movement registered a 13.6 per cent y-o-y growth with 4.9 million passengers in November, while domestic passenger traffic rose 0.5 per cent y-o-y, equivalent to 5.5 million passengers.
On a 12-month basis, MAHB airport network registered an eight per cent y-o-y growth with 127.4 million passengers, the highest number to date.
On the local front, MAHB said that its Malaysian airports registered 7.9 million passengers, a 4.8 per cent y-o-y growth, with its international traffic growing 13.2 per cent y-o-y, while domestic traffic declined three per cent y-o-y.
It said Kuala Lumpur International Airport passenger movements recorded a 7.8 per cent increase compared with 4.8 million passenger movements in November 2016.
“Istanbul SGIA passenger traffic also posted a 10.9 per cent y-o-y passenger traffic growth in November 2017 with 2.5 million passengers,” MAHB said, stating that the airport’s international and domestic traffic grew 15.6 per cent and 9.0 per cent y-o-y, respectively.
The airport operator said international traffic for ASEAN destinations grew 9.8 per cent whereas non-ASEAN traffic posted a 16.4 per cent increase. - Bernama
