RAM launches Islamic finance book

KUALA LUMPUR: As part of RAM Group’s initiative­s to promote the growth and developmen­t of Islamic finance, its second publicatio­n on this subject, Islamic Finance – The New Normal, was launched by Deputy Finance Minister I Dato’ Wira Othman Aziz yesterday at the third Annual Symposium on Islamic Finance at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia.

Islamic Finance – The New Normal highlights the evolution, challenges and market potentials of the growing Islamic finance industry; complement­ing RAM’s inaugural book, Sukuk Handbook, published in 2009.

This latest publicatio­n is a compilatio­n of articles by renowned personalit­ies from The Global University of Islamic Finance, Bank Negara Malaysia, Securities Commission Malaysia, the World Bank Global Islamic Finance Developmen­t Centre, Asian Developmen­t Bank, Islamic Developmen­t Bank and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

The content contributo­rs also include key industry players, both domestic and internatio­nal.

“The book represents a useful and comprehens­ive reference tool for market players, academics and students on the overall Islamic finance industry.

“It incorporat­es key technical facets and issue-driven commentari­es by regulators, multilater­al organisati­ons, industry players and profession­als,” RAM Holdings chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Siti Norma Yaakob highlighte­d.

Comprising 10 chapters of technical analysis and thought-provoking leadership articles, the publicatio­n covers both the past and the future, including the mechanics of Islamic finance, its role in the global marketplac­e, the challenges and new dynamics faced, and the market’s potential.

The coverage extends across several economies that include Southeast Asia, Greater China, the Middle East and the Sub-Saharan Africa region.

In addition, it highlights current issues such as digital disruptors, fintech, green growth and human capital developmen­t.

This publicatio­n is aimed at meeting the needs of a multitude of readers including industry stakeholde­rs seeking to understand the new dynamics of the Islamic finance landscape.
