A waste of time listening to opposition — CM

-

SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman advised the people not to listen to lies and empty promises spread by the opposition.

“Do not pay attention to them (opposition). Wasting (your) time. I always tell the assemblymen and members of parliament to keep working. ‘YB’ does not stand for Yang Berhormat but Yang Berkhidmat. As leaders elected by the people, they must work hard, go to the ground, before, during and after election. We are not seasonal leaders.

“Trust me. Do not listen to some parties. They are lying. They had lost and they are disappointed and angry. Do not listen to them,” Musa said at Koperasi Pembangunan Desa (KPD)’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme yesterday.

Musa said that he was sure that the assistance given would lower the burden of parents in preparing their children for school, starting early next year.

“I support this programme as it could help the rakyat. This is how the Barisan Nasional government works. We want to help the rakyat. All parents want their children to be successful in education, and the government is also concerned about the academic performance of our future generation. That is why we had set up the Education Hub in Sandakan with various higher learning institutions including Politeknik, UMS (Universiti Malaysia Sabah Sandakan), MRSM and others.

“We hope the Education Hub would reduce the burden of the parents here who want to send their children for higher education. Now parents here do not need to send their children to Peninsular Malaysia or Kota Kinabalu which may cost higher due to transportation fee, instead, they could send their children to further their education here (Sandakan),” he explained.

Koperasi Pembangunan Desa (KPD), a government-linkedagency, donated school bags and stationery to 1,800 students from Sibuga and Sukau through its CSR programme this year.

KPD chairman cum Sukau assemblyman Datuk Saddi Haji Abdul Rahman said the contribution was made in line with the Chief Minister’s request for government-linked companies and agencies to allocate some profit for the wellbeing of the rakyat.

He said that the assistance for students began in the year 2014 when a total of 500 students were involved, while this year 1,000 students from Sibuga and 800 students from Sukau benefited from this programme.

Also present during the ceremony were Sandakan Municipal Council president Datuk James Wong, KPD deputy chairman Assan Nasip, KPD general manager Kalimin Sahadi and Community Development Leader of N.42 Sungai Sibuga, Datuk Salzo Asa.
