Chinese embraced as Anak Negeri — Bosi

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri is a local party that encompasses all the races in Sabah, including Sarawak.

In fact, a simple but meaningful ritual was conducted at Kampung Tinangol Matunggung early this year to embrace the Chinese community as Anak Negeri, said its Penampang chief, Dr Edwin Bosi.

Bosi urged the people of Sabah to give Anak Negeri not only a chance to form the next government but a strong and stable one so that the party will be able to provide a good and steady government and in a position of strength when negotiating with the Federal Government.

He added that the leaders of Anak Negeri are mostly new that come from the academic, business and religious background.

“Anak Negeri has five principles in its struggle. The first is to fight for the unity and dignity of the Anak Negeri and secondly to fight for religious freedom as guaranteed by the Batu Sumpah in Keningau. Anak Negeri will defend the Constitutions on the rights of the Anak Negeri and the ownership and utilisation of the ‘tanah adat’ or NCR land. Finally, Anak Negeri will ensure the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said during the meet-the-people session at the Donggongon tamu on Thursday.

On the local front, Bosi who is also the Kapayan assemblyman, said Anak Negeri in Penampang would continue the struggle of the golden son of the Kadazan, Datuk Peter Mojuntin and in the Interior Anak Negeri would pursue the struggle of the late G S Sundang and OKK Sedomon. In the Murut heartland, Anak Negeri will be continuing the struggle of Ontoros, the Murut warrior.

Bosi said his main concerns are the fate of the elderly and children.

“I can see the problems faced by these two generations which are the rising cost of living and education. I believe Sabah has enough revenue to take care of our elderly parents to have a good decent dignified life. They have done their part in nation building and in return the government should reciprocate.

“It is the same with our young generation. Parti Anak Negeri can ensure that they have free and good education up to university if that is what it takes,” said Bosi who believes with an educated generation they will do their part to take care of the country.
