JCI holds hydrostone plaster craft workshop

-

KOTA KINABALU: Junior Chamber International Intan (JCI Intan) organised a hydrostone plaster craft workshop on December 16 at Arena Belia, Kepayan.

Conducted by the owner of AESY Alternative Crafts, Sylvia Desmond Lee, the workshop taught the participants on how to make plaster crafts like fridge magnets and pen-holders from scratch.

The process begins from making plaster mixture, moulding, drying and painting. Product finishing and packaging demonstrations were also taught at the workshop.

In her opening remarks, 2017 JCI Intan President Siti Bahiyah Mohd Muztaba hoped that the participants would apply all the knowledge and crafting skills from the workshop to create new business opportunities, in addition to developing a valuable skill for individual growth. The project was led by organising chairperson Pamella Chua.

This one-day program is organised under the organisation's Intan Creative Workshop series and supported by the Sabah's Women's Affairs Department and Sabah Youth Council.

The objective of this workshop was to provide free skills to single mothers, housewives and female youths who can turn this skill into an opportunity for business or extra income.

Among the participants were members of single mothers associations, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, IKS Nita Sabah, JCI Intan and members of the public.

Most of the participants commented that they had an enjoyable time at the workshop, gaining new knowledge and skills, and were able to get to know other like-minded individuals within the craft and business field.
