Donate and be generous to flood victims — NGO

KOTA KINABALU: The Society of Hope Kota Kinabalu (SOH KK) has called for donations to the flood victims in Sabah during the season of giving.

“Few things are so healing to the soul as generosity toward others. If you want to lift your mood, buy something nice, not for yourself, but for someone who is less fortunate and in need,” said its chairman, Christina Liew, in her Christmas message yesterday.

“In the case of Sabah, lest we forget those who were recently affected by the series of floods in various parts of Sabah. including Kota Belud, Keningau and Tuaran.

“On behalf of The Society of Hope Kota Kinabalu, I take this opportunity to again appeal to fellow Sabahans to come forward and generously support our humanitarian campaign in aid of the flood victims, many of whom we believe are still struggling to recoup from the devastating impact of the recent floods. Contributions can be made in the form of cash donation and in kinds,” she added.

The Pakatan Harapan and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah chairman also made a Christmas and New Year 2018 prayer.

“I pray that there will be a change of the present administration to a fair, just and benevolent one,” she said.

“I call on the people of Sabah, irrespective of their race and religion, to be united as one ‘United Force’ to fight against the Barisan Nasional to save our children’s future.

“I also pray that our economy will soon improve and there will be more and better job opportunities for our young people, so that they can remain close to their families and can afford to own a home of their own, and the security of the state too will improve further, and our people of all races and religious background could continue to coexist in peace and harmony,” added Christina, who is also Api-Api assemblywoman.
