Tawau Puteri Umno chief lodges police report over Facebook post

-

TAWAU: Tawau Puteri Umno chief Nazliah Ali lodged a police report yesterday over a slanderous news that went viral on Facebook.

Nazliah said she made the report and came forward to make a statement to clarify several matters made viral on social media involving a woman's case reportedly from Tawau who was detained by authorities for possessing syabu (methamphetamine) in Parepare, Indonesia.

She said the woman was not Tawau Puteri Umno chief or Tawau Puteri Umno as being made viral on social media.

Nazliah stressed that whatever offence committed by the woman as an individual should not be linked with Puteri Umno or any political organization the woman had joined.

She said the statements made on social media such as Facebook and made viral under the names of ‘An Ann, Sammy Mohammad Ariffin Khan and Kairul Nizam' were defamatory, lies, evil and baseless.

She said it was clearly aimed at embarrassing and degrading her as a Tawau Puteri Umno chief and tarnishing the Sabah Puteri Umno image, especially Malaysia Puteri Umno.

Nazliah said it was a serious allegation against her and she decided to make a police report against the owners of the social media accounts to enable the authorities such as the police and Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission to investigate and take firm action against them.

Also present was Sabah Puteri Umno vice chief cum Semporna Puteri Umno chief Zakiah Kalipunya.
