Wallace Huo was infatuated with Ruby Lin for 12 years
TAIPEI: Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo has disclosed that he was infatuated with actress Ruby Lin for 12 years before they wed in Bali last year.
A large number of fans were taken by surprise when they got married in Bali, but it wasn’t a whirlwind romance as widely speculated. Instead of a whirlwind, the 12-year journey from on-screen romances to life as husband and wife would seem more like a gentle breeze.
But from newlyweds to new parents, the journey was much shorter. This January, they had welcomed their firstborn, a daughter.
In his latest interview with bemused newsmen, Wallace, 37, disclosed that he had become obsessed with Ruby when they had co-starred in the movie Sound of Colours in 2005. “Because we were good friends, I didn’t dare to confess. I didn’t want to ruin our friendship.”
Since he was reluctant to confess his infatuation with her, Wallace worked on making it appear to be just a platonic relationship.
Like Wallace, Ruby was also too nervous to cross the line from friendship to romance.
As to why she had concealed her true feelings, Ruby explained: “Friends can be forever, but lovers can separate. And when that happens, it’s going to be hard to get back to how it was before.”
Added Wallace, “Honestly, I don’t have very many friends. If she didn’t take the initiative to contact me, then I would never have made the first move. Very few friends would contact me. I felt it was a wonderful feeling, and didn’t want to lose it. I was afraid our relationship would change. I was very happy with the status quo and thought it was

Wallace finally summoned the courage to confess his true feelings last year only after becoming more established as an actor.
He was getting “tired” of dating in secret.
Said Wallace: “When we made plans to meet up, it was quite exhausting. We had to hide and sneak around. We took our relationship underground.”
