Four premises take part in Energy Commission’s Touch Point Program
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah West Coast Energy Commission have organized a series of Touch Point Program around the districts of Ranau, Papar and Federal Territory of Labuan.
The program is an activity of electrical safety awareness and energy-saving campaign in the form of charity work at selected premises.
Four premises were selected to participate in the program, namely, Tahfiz centres of Sri Merinding and Al Badr in Labuan, Sri Pritchard Elderly Home in Kinarut, Papar and Don Bosco Orphanage in Bundu Tuhan, Ranau.
The program is aimed at promoting and raising awareness of premises management on the importance of ensuring safe electrical wiring in their premises.
The concept to be implemented in the program seeks to identify any defects in the electrical installation and subsequent repairs or replacement of damaged electrical equipment.
Further, the program also aim to promote energy saving measures through the conversion and installation of energy-efficient electrical equipment at the premises.
Two electrical contractor companies in Ranau and Labuan collaborated with the Sabah West Coast Energy Commission to make the program successful.
These companies are registered under the National Energy Skills Institute and National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Kinarut and certified by the Energy Commission, namely York Electric and MBM Electrical. These electrical contractors and the IKBN assisted in performing inspections, repairs and replacement of damaged electrical equipment at the participating premises.
The premises that were involved in the program were selected based on urgent needs or current issues related to electrical power.
On December 22, West Coast regional director, Nazlin Ab Alim Sidiki, along with the involved contractors made a follow-up inspection at Tahfiz Al Badr and Sri Merinding before giving out donations and certificates of appreciation.
