Thalassemia child patients get gifts from Smart ReaderR
KOTA KINABALU: Smart ReaderR Worldwide Sdn Bhd and its subsidiary, Aim Smart Academics Sdn Bhd celebrated Christmas with 33 children at the Thalassemia Ward of the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital in conjunction with their corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort.
The children were entertained with Christmas carols by a group called Klect In, which consists of volunteers from the alumni of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Then, the children had a wonderful time playing Smart Reader KidsR board game activities and were presented with snacks and stationery contributed by Gardenia Sdn Bhd and Socioeco Research and Consultancy, as well as personal contributions from Assistant Minister Of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Kamarlin Ombi. Chief Supervisor of the Thalassemia Ward, Doreen Wong, expressed her gratitude to the visitors and contributors, saying the visit definitely helped enlighten the children’s day.
“Besides helping people in need, we found that the most important purpose of this visit is to create awareness on this hereditary sickness. We hope that it will encourage more people to donate blood to the hospital as it can save lives,” said Noor Zaimah Adnan, Aim Smart Academics’ Development and Operational Cum Public Relations Executive.
“Smart ReaderR Worldwide believes in acts that spread love and compassion,” she said.
