Man fined for causing public nuisance

KOTA KINABALU: A man was fined RM25, in default two weeks’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for acting unruly in a public place.

Mohd Saidi Nowang, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to committing the offence at a beach at Pulau Pondo on Pulau Gaya, on December 21.

The charge also stated that when committing the act, the accused was in a half-conscious state of mind.

When asked by the court on what he had done at the said place, the accused answered that he was pulling the moon.

The accused was convicted under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance which carries a fine of up to RM25, upon conviction.

In a separate case, two men claimed trial in the same court to a joint charge of disposing stolen items.

Anafi Ahmad, 31 and Azmi Abd Amit, 40, had allegedly disposed of stolen properties, namely an air conditione­r unit, a set of condensers for air conditioni­ng and its remote control at a shop along Jalan Pasir in Likas at 5.05pm on December 21.

Both the accused persons were charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code.

The court fixed January 12 next year for the case management and released on bail of RM2,800 each with two sureties, pending disposal of the case.
