Petrol station murder: Remand extended for man

JOHOR BAHRU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday ordered the 22-yearold suspect in the murder of a man at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi here on Dec 17 to be in remand for another seven days to facilitate investigat­ion.

The order to extend the remand on the man until Jan 4 next year was issued by Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias following an applicatio­n by the police.

The 22-year-old man was among seven individual­s detained in Singapore on Dec 20 .

However, the other six suspects, together with another suspect who was detained here on Dec 21, were released yesterday.

In the 7.30 pm incident on Dec 17, a man, who was inflating his car tyres at a petrol station, was attacked by four men who arrived in a BMW 520D.

The victim died after he was stabbed, hit and run over by the BMW 520D at the petrol station.

Following the incident, the Johor police detained 11 men and four women in Penang, Johor Bahru and Singapore to assist investigat­ions under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

On Wednesday, police confirmed having found the BMW 520D car which was believed to have been used in the brutal killing, in an oil palm plantation at Ayer Balai, near Pontian.

Police are intensifyi­ng efforts to track down three main suspects who are still believed to be in the country. - Bernama
