Online fury rages over Big Bang break-up rumours

-

SEOUL: A huge outpouring of fury is happening online after a Korean media outlet had reported that Big Bang is on the verge of breaking up.

According to journalist Kim Yena of TV Report, Big Bang, the veteran idol group of 12 years is imploding in the face of several challenges.

These include the members’ military enlistment, T.O.P’s marijuana controversy, Taeyang’s impending marriage, and several other factors.

Adding to the speculated implosion is the fact that GDragon has given indication that he is keen to focus on expanding his business.

G-Dragon has been spending much time trying to develop his fashion brand and has been frequently having meetings with associates in the industry. His recent purchase of a building is also assumed to be for his fashion business.

Seungri has also been focusing heavily on his business. In fact, on social media, he has been frequently posting stories on his successful ramen restaurants.

On the other hand, Daesung and Taeyang are planning to focus on their individual promotions. Daesung has been promoting mainly in Japan while Taeyang recently announced his marriage to actress Min Hyo Rin.

He’s also scheduled to enlist for mandatory military training next year. On top of all these, T.O.P is expected to remain on hiatus for the next several years due to the unremitting harsh criticism by his many detractors.

The challenges would make it very difficult for all five to come together for performances.

But many fans doubt that they are splitting up.

One online comment reeked of sarcasm. It read: “As expected this was written by Kim Yena. Why don’t you continue praising SM and stop bullying YG? What’s up with the nonsense about Big Bang being doomed and disbanding?”
