15 hearing impaired students from China receive English Proficiency Certificates
CYBERJAYA: A total of 15 hearing impaired students from Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, China received their English Proficiency Certificate from LimKokWing University of Creative Technology after completing the six-month English programme specially designed for them.
They received their certificates from Deputy Education Minister, Datuk Chong Sin Woon in a ceremony held at the university yesterday.
Chong when speaking to reporters after the ceremony said, the English language proficiency programme specially designed for the hearing-impaired students was fully sponsored by LimKokWing University of Creative Technology under the One Belt, One Road initiative.
“The One Belt, One Road initiative has now expanded beyond the economy sector to the education sector. This is the whole idea of integrating the initiative by not only looking at investment alone but cultural and people to people connection,” he added.
Chong said, he was also proud when he learnt that a majority of the hearing impaired students planned to come back to LimKokWing University of Creative Technology in future to pursue their degree. One of the students, Wang Xiona in her speech delivered through sign language and read out by the translator to the audience said, the teaching method in the university was very creative with self-made videos, comics and online games.
“Through this programme, I learned things that I will never get from books. The memory in Malaysia is a treasure for a lifetime. I love the weather in Malaysia, the food and the people,” she added.
The 15 students, eight boys and seven girls aged 18 to 24 began their English proficiency programme in early July.
