Bumi developers urged to build more quality affordable homes

TUARAN: Local government and housing minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, has urged more bumiputera developers in Sabah to build more quality affordable houses without making too much profit.

He said, profit is important to make sure the company grow bigger but there must be something that they can do to help people in the state own a home.

“Permata Juta, a bumiputera developer is one example that we can see doing this kind of houses with quality materials.

“I am here today to witness this key handing over ceremony because I have been waiting for so long for a company like this in the market. I have never seen a twobedroom house of 750 sq ft priced at RM65,000. This is something that I think can help a lot of people,” he said after witnessing the handing over of the key at Kampung Indai, here, yesterday.

According to Hajiji, the company has already completed seven houses for the past year of operation and is currently working on a number of houses of different models all over Sabah.

Permata Juta chairman, Dato’ Datu Fadli Fathullah, said, the company is looking forward to compete in the market by providing quality homes at lower cost.

“Many developers said our materials are more expensive compared to the peninsular, but actually it is not that bad, and we still can adjust to make sure the price is still affordable for everyone. All of our house models are built according to the government standard, and we will continue to maintain the price for Sabah market,” he said.
