KOTA KINABALU: JCI Intan held a creative workshop on beading on December 17, recently, that was attended by some 25 participants from various single mothers’ associations in Sabah, IKS Nita, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu Sabah and JCI members.

This workshop is the second part of the Intan Creative Workshop, the objective of which is to provide free crafting skills to single mothers, housewives and young women in the local community. Participants were taught the basic of beading weaving and given hands-on experience in making their own sets of different beads bracelets.

This beading workshop was conducted by Jusnah binti Jinos. A native of Ranau and the founder of Jusnah Craft Enterprise, she has ten years experience in craftmaking and beading. She has been invited multiple times as instructor for various training programs held by the Ministry of Youth Sabah. In 2016, she was presented with the Youth Icon Award for Ranau.

Jusnah shared that this bead weaving has paved a way for her to be a successful entrepreneur and has shared her knowledge not just locally but internationally as well. She hopes that the skills she imparted will also inspire the participants to potentially turn it into a business opportunity for themselves.

Also present to officiate at the workshop’s closing ceremony was JCI Area Sabah chairperson, National Executive vice president, Veronica Chin, who expressed her gladness that being an allfemale organisation, JCI Intan had organised a workshop that provides a free platform for women to expand their capabilities and learn new skills. She also hoped that the organisation could organise more projects in the future that focuses on women empowerment.
