TYT attends QuranHour program
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Head of State Tun Dr Haji Juhar Datuk Mahiruddin attended the Program Satu Jam bersama Al-Quran (#QuranHour) at the State Mosque in conjunction with the New Year, Sunday night.
The first-time programme, apart from welcoming the New Year, was held to promote not only the reading but also the understanding of the Quran amongst Muslims in the State.
The event was attended by 10 participants comprising heads of federal and State departments.
Earlier, Tun Juhar performed maghrib prayers before #QuranHour commenced, followed by a religious talk, prayer reading and Isyak prayers with 3,000 others.
The event was organised by the Sabah State Government, Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM), Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS), Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS), Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) Sabah, Sabah Broadcasting Department Sabah FM, Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation, Rumahgaji and Karangkraf Media Group.
Also present were Assistant Industrial Development Minister Datuk Bolkiah Ismail, Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister and #QuranHour programme advisor Datuk Arifin Mohd Arif, Assistant Rural Development Minister Datuk Nilwan Kabang and State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman.
