Recipients grateful for Maulidur Rasul awards

SANDAKAN: Haji Otoh Sibik Haji Sahak and Roziah Hussain were announced as the recipients of the district Maulidur Rasul SAW Award for the year 1439H/2017M.

The award ceremony was officiated by Chief Minister, Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman and his wife Puan Sri Faridah Haji Tussin in conjunctio­n with the Maulidur Rasul Celebratio­n at the Sandakan District Mosque here yesterday.

Otoh Sibik, 60, is the Senior Assistant Director of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department here and holds several key positions in nearly 30 associatio­ns and organizati­ons.

Speaking to the media, he was grateful and thankful for the award given.

“I think that I have yet to become eligible to receive this award but this is the assessment of the appraisal panel and I am deeply moved by this award,” he said.

Commenting on the Maulidur Rasul’s theme of ‘Kesatuan Ummah, Kesejahter­aan Negara’, he said, not only the country, but any organizati­on would not be stable without cooperatio­n and unity.

As ordinary citizens, they naturally hope that the country would be safe and prosperous.

“We do not want our beloved country to become like some countries in the Middle East. As a multiracia­l, multi-religion and multi-cultural nation, we pray that Malaysia will be peaceful and prosperous not only today but also for the next generation,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Roziah, 53, a primary school teacher, also expressed gratitude over the award as Maulidur Rasul Woman.

The mother of eleven said the award would be an inducement for her to remain istiqomah in spreading the Islam.
