88 Bikers Cycling Club first Installati­on Night Jan 27

KOTA KINABALU: 88 Bikers Cycling Club is organising its Installati­on Night ceremony at Makanan Sedap Restaurant at Hilltop, Luyang here on January 27.

After being founded close to 10 years ago, the club was finally officially registered on July 18 last year.

“The club was founded in 2010 and I think it was one of the first cycling teams in Kota Kinabalu at the time.

“We only officially registered our club last year and we are organising this installati­on ceremony to mark the occasion,” said founder Patrick Wong, who became the first official president after the club’s election, recently.

Wong who is no stranger in the Kota Kinabalu cycling scene will be leading his committee for the 2017-2018 term.

He will be aided by his deputy Jonathan Wong and vice president Mohd Caezar Boyd Wahab, while Sam Jr Dimok is the secretary.

Victor Ho is the club’s treasurer and there are nine committee members including Philip Wong Wui Phin, Felix Phang Kui Ming, Billy Wong Kok Tong and Leslie Lai Yun Siong.

The other committee members are Danny Chang, Mitchell Tai, Ag Ibrahim Pg Ismail (Watson), Ong Teong Sim and Peter Vun.

It is the vision of the founding members to promote the club to be a responsibl­e top cycling club in the state by playing an active and crucial role in the developmen­t of cycling as a sport.

The club has several elite coaches as well as a comprehens­ive training programme and several other activities to promote the developmen­t of cycling as a whole.

Meanwhile, Wong said banquet tickets for the installati­on ceremony will be sold at RM60 each.

He also said that the club has invited its honorary members Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah, Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai and Sandakan Municipal Council president Datuk James Wong to attend the ceremony.
