IPOH: Perak Umno Youth yesterday lodged a police report against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for allegedly inciting the people to topple the government of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Its chief, Khairul Shahril Mohamed, said the former prime minister often issued statements calling on the people to join him in his mission to topple the government led by Najib.

“These statements of Tun Mahathir tarnishing the image of the government leadership will surely confuse the people, especially the young generation.

“We are very disappointed by what Tun Mahathir is doing to Datuk Seri Najib because these actions seem to be upsetting the political stability, harmony and the democracy of the country,” he said to reporters after making the report at the Sungai Senam Police Station here.

Khairul Shahril said Dr Mahathir had long begun the move to topple the government and it was undemocratic and an unacceptable offence.

He said it was hoped that the authorities would investigate the matter and take appropriate action against Dr Mahathir.

“I urge Tun Mahathir to stop issuing seditious statements because he is a statesman and should set a good example for the people and not do anything futile.

“The current government was elected through a democratic process and it must be respected by all quarters,” he said. Bernama
