Two senior cops get promotiona­l transfers from Tawau

TAWAU: The Commercial Crime Investigat­ion Division head here, ASP Iyda binti Ismail, has been promoted to Deputy Superinten­dent of Police (DSP) based at the Sabah Police Contingent in Kota Kinabalu after serving in Tawau for 17 years.

Iyda from Malacca, has been in the police force for 24 years with 17 years working with the Tawau police contingent and she has served under seven Tawau police chiefs.

She handed over her duties to Inspector Ziqri Rayyan Rayner, who was appointed the acting chief of the Tawau commercial crime investigat­ion division, yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, the Tawau Traffic Enforcemen­t and Investigat­ion Division chief, ASP Edward Kondokor, was promoted to the post of deputy director of the police traffic division based in Bukit Aman, after serving in Tawau police for about six years.

He has handed over his duties to ASP Joan Lee, who has been appointed as acting chief of Tawau police traffic enforcemen­t and investigat­ion division.

Edward, who is originally from Kota Kinabalu, has vast experience in the police traffic division and has also served in the General Operation Force (GOF) in Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu previously.

On hand to witness the handing over of duties was Tawau police chief, ACP Fadil bin Hj Marsus, who said that while it would be a great loss to the Tawau police contingent, but from a positive perspectiv­e, it was good news as both officers have been promoted. Fadil also expressed his gratitude to both officers for their sacrifices in terms of time, energy and families for the police force. He hoped this spirit of the ‘police family’ relationsh­ip will be retained despite time and distance.
