New interchange enhances access to city of Elmina

-

SHAH ALAM: The new RM66 million Elmina Interchange on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), which opens yesterday, will provide the City of Elmina residents and GCE users with enhanced accessibility to various areas in the city and surrounding locations.

Sime Darby Property Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri said the interchange was constructed 12 years ago, but it was not opened due to incomplete internal road network.

“Sime Darby Property constructed new roads connecting the townships of Denai Alam and Bukit Subang to Elmina West at the City of Elmina leading to the interchange and subsequently the GCE, at a cost of about RM22 million,” he told reporters at the launch of the interchange yesterday.

Wan Hashimi Albakri said Sime Darby Property also invested RM44 million in roads connecting Subang Bestari to the GCE via the Elmina East township.

The Elmina Interchange, located at GCE Exit 3504, was built by Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd and serves as a catalyst for the growth of townships and communities, elevating Sime Darby Property’s value proposition, said Wan Hashimi Albakri.

“Connectivity is a hallmark of Sime Darby Property developments and reinforces the strength of our townships, apart from being self-sustainable and positioned in strategic locations,” he said.

In addition to enhanced access to the City of Elmina, the interchange is set to help ease traffic congestion at the Denai Alam and Bukit Subang townships during peak hours by improving traffic dispersion.

The interchange also strings together the Denai Alam, Bukit Subang, Elmina West and Elmina East townships, enabling convenient and quick access for residents to enjoy facilities and services available at each of the different townships.

City of Elmina is a 2023.42-hectare (ha) themed township development by Sime Darby Property with an estimated RM27 billion gross development value, which include the Denai Alam, Bukit Subang, Elmina East and Elmina West townships.

Among City of Elmina’s features are the 121.4 ha Elmina Central Park and 90-kilometre cycling and jogging tracks, one of the longest tracks in the country.

Upcoming launches at the City of Elmina for 2018 include doublestorey link homes and semi-D residential units in Denai Alam and the second phase of Elmina Green double-storey link homes in Elmina West.

Sime Darby Property Bhd has a successful 45-year track record of developing sustainable communities, and to date has built 23 active townships/developments with a global reach that encompasses assets and operations across the Asia-Pacific region and the United Kingdom. — Bernama
