Arthur receives support to contest for PBRS
KENINGAU: Residents of four villages in the Sook area here support Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the 14th General Election (GE14).
They are from Kampung Tuawon, Kampung Sinaron, Kampung Sinaron Tengah and Kampung Sinua.
“The people in these four villages have indicated that they will support the BN candidates, including Arthur, in GE14,” Native Chief representative, Frankie Tawok Tatoi, said in his speech at the meet-the-people session at Kampung Tuawon on Monday.
He paid a glowing tribute to Arthur as a diligent young leader who goes down to the ground to help resolve the people’s problems.
Arthur, he said, is an lawyer and an ambassador of the National Transformation 2050 (TN50), who should be able to raise issues from the interior areas to the top leadership for action.
In his address at the event, Arthur called on the people to intelligently evaluate leaders capable of bringing development to the area.
“The BN government is obliged to bring development to the people and the people must continue to ask for more development for the Sook and Pensiangan parliamentary constituencies. At the same time, the grassroots, regardless of race and religion, must remain united and cooperative,” he said.
Arthur also thanked the residents of the four villages for their support and for successfully organizing the event.
He pointed out that the handing out of the spandek zinc had been delayed due to short supply of the material to fulfil all the requests. For those whose names have been dropped from the list, they may be considered in the future.
“Ongoing development in the Sook area is the upgrading of the Sook-Sinua Road, the provision of electricity supply, the construction of SMK Trusmadi and the upgrading of Sinaron-Tongod Road,” Arthur said.
“The long overdue development in Sook and Mukim Lanas areas is now being implemented in stages,” he said.
The country’s economy, he said, appears to be on the right track and all the government’s assistance as announced in Budget 2018 will continue to be given to assist lowincome and poor people in the rural areas.
“Similarly, the new ADAM (Amanah Dana Anak Malaysia) program that is being introduced to the people, for babies born this year, will be given financial assistance through their bank account up to the age of 18 years old to fund their education in the future.
“On the GST, the people should evaluate it wisely as it helps them in the long run,” he said.
At the event, Arthur handed over spandek zinc sheets to residents of the four villages. He also presented 40 PBRS cards to new members of the party from the village of Tuawon.
The event was attended by Central PBRS Youth chief, Matusin Bowie, government officers, village heads, JKKK chairmen and PBRS leaders.
